West Bromwich Albion have announced the sacking of head coach Tony Mowbray after a string of poor results in the Premier League.

Mowbray, who took charge of the club in June 2018, had been under increasing pressure as the team struggled to secure wins and climb out of the relegation zone.

Chairman Mark Jenkins said in a statement, “It is with regret that we have had to make this decision, but we believe it is in the best interests of the club.”

The search for a new head coach is already underway, with several names being linked to the position.

Mowbray’s departure comes after a disappointing run of form that saw West Brom fail to win in their last eight league matches.

Fans have been divided over the decision, with some calling for Mowbray to be given more time to turn the team’s fortunes around.

However, the club’s board felt that a change was necessary in order to give the team a chance of avoiding relegation.

Mowbray’s assistant coach has been appointed as interim head coach until a permanent replacement is found.

Former players and pundits have expressed their shock at the decision, but many agree that something needed to change at the struggling club.

Only time will tell if the decision to sack Mowbray will prove to be the right one for West Bromwich Albion.
